2012-2013 School year!

OK, I am a little late getting this blog going this school year.  I will try and be better during this new school year!  I have a great class this year!  We have been getting back in the swing of things.  I have a couple of new students, too!

We are getting ready to start our fabulous fall unit - my favorite time of the year!  For now, I am going to post some miscellaneous pictures of the beginning of the school year.

Yee Haw!  This year our classroom is Cowboy/Cowgirl Themed!

Here are some pics from our Walk at School Day to help support Breast Cancer Awareness Group!  It

Fun times!  Did you know October is National Pizza Month??  Well, we decided to celebrate by have a pizza-themed week last week.  We read the book, Pete's A Pizza.  It about a little boy who can't go outside because it's raining.  His parents make him into a pizza as a game.  Well, we decided to do the same thing in our class.  The kids LOVED being made into a pizza!  So much fun!

Easter buckets

Thanks to Kenna's mom for showing us how to make our Easter buckets!  Everyone loved how they turned out.

Letter U - fun times!

Here are some pictures of some things we did during letter U week.  Unfortunately, they are a little fuzzy.  I took these with the classroom iPod and they didn't turn out too good.  Oh well, you get the idea.  We had a lot of fun!

One day we focused on the concept/word of "under".  Everyone thought it was pretty cool to draw "under" the table.

 This was "umbrella" day!

The most fun was "underwear" day!  They loved reading books like Aliens Love Underpants and Underwear!

Of course, they thought it was super crazy to put the underwear on over their clothes.

Plants, plants, plants

This year we grew our own plants and observed them every day until we started seeing them as a plant.  Everyone came in every morning and looked at the window to see if they could see theirs yet.  These went home on Friday and I told them if they planted the roots in the ground, then you might grow some beans!

Do you like my new t-shirt??

What can I say?  I love my class!  I decided to get a t-shirt to say so!  Kenna liked it so much, she took a picture of me in it!  :)

Tornado in a bottle

On the last day of our weather unit, we made a tornado in a bottle.  I am so glad we did this because my kiddos LOVED it!  It was a lot of fun.

I love how engaged they all are!

Fun weather activities!

One of the activities I had my students do during our weather unit, was to sort clothes by what you wear when it's hot or cold.  They really enjoyed doing this activity.  At the end, some wanted to dress up in the clothes.

This picture cracks me up!

These girls loved putting on these clothes.  Kenna did not want to take the bathing suit off.
